The Lions Are Urged to Sign a $156 Million Superstar to Complement Aidan Hutchinson

Many analysts expect the Detroit Lions to prioritize upgrading their pass rush early in the 2026 NFL Draft, and that’s a realistic possibility. However, that approach wouldn’t necessarily stop them from making a major move in free agency as well. One name that stands out as a potential high-impact addition is Joey Bosa.

According to Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox, Detroit could be an ideal landing spot for Bosa in 2026. Knox pointed out that although Bosa will be 31 in July, he continues to be a productive and disruptive presence, even in a rotational role. During his most recent season with the Buffalo Bills, he posted five sacks, generated 24 quarterback pressures, and recorded nine tackles for loss.

Knox also noted that while Bosa’s performance still warrants consideration for a multi-year contract, his situation makes him a better fit for a team ready to compete right away rather than one going through a rebuild. He could remain effective for a few more seasons, but his value is maximized on a contender.

That’s where the Lions come in. Despite adding D.J. Wonnum in free agency, Detroit still lacks a true top-tier running mate for Aidan Hutchinson. Bringing in Bosa would strengthen their defensive front and give them a deeper, more dangerous pass-rushing rotation.

Over the course of his career, Bosa has been highly productive, tallying 77 sacks across 122 games. He’s also accumulated 96 tackles for loss, 172 quarterback hits, and forced 22 fumbles. In his latest campaign with Buffalo, he made a notable impact by leading the league with five forced fumbles, while also contributing five sacks, nine tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits.
