Many fans recognize Kelly Stafford as the wife of Matthew Stafford, the veteran quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams. Others know her as the co-host of the podcast The Morning After, which she hosted alongside close friend Hank Winchester.

However, the popular show has been on hiatus since October 2025 as Kelly stepped away to focus on her well-being and reduce stress in her life.

In a recent Instagram Story, Kelly explained that the pressure surrounding the podcast often caused anxiety before new episodes were released.

“What I don’t miss is the anxiety I used to get the night before every episode was released wondering what headline was going to be created from the episode,” she shared.

Kelly added that constant headlines involving her name made the experience overwhelming and ultimately led to her decision to pause the podcast.

Kelly Stafford Provides Update on the Future of “The Morning After”

Fans of The Morning After have spent more than seven months wondering whether the podcast would return or if the hiatus might become permanent.

Kelly recently addressed those questions on Instagram, suggesting that the future of the show is still uncertain.

She said stepping away allowed her to spend more time supporting her husband and being present with their children during the most recent NFL season.

“It was really nice just being there and supporting and being with my kids and Matthew all last season and not having to worry about it,” Kelly said.

While she admitted she misses podcasting, Kelly explained she is still figuring out what the next step might look like.

“I really do miss it. I think you can do a lot of good with a podcast if you do it right,” she added. “So I’m trying to figure out what that looks like and still be super enjoyable for you all.”

Kelly promised fans they would hear directly from her once she decides whether the show will return.

The most recent full episode of The Morning After aired in October and featured Kristin Juszczyk and Claire Kittle. They are married to Kyle Juszczyk and George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers.

Since that episode, a few follow-up releases titled “The TMA Archives” have revisited memorable moments from past shows.

Kelly Stafford Criticizes Media Over How They Refer to Matthew Stafford

During another recent Instagram Q&A session, Kelly addressed a question from a fan about whether it bothers her when people refer to her husband as “Matt” instead of “Matthew.”

Kelly made it clear that she finds the mistake frustrating—especially when it comes from reporters covering the NFL.

“When people don’t know him, they call him Matt,” she explained. “What gets me is that he’s been playing in the league now for close to two decades, and people who have jobs reporting on it still call him Matt. I find it highly disrespectful.”

For context, Stafford’s legal name is John Matthew Stafford, but throughout his football career he has always gone by Matthew.

Kelly suggested that for professionals who regularly cover the league, using the correct name should be a basic sign of respect.
