Maxx Crosby Sparks Debate Among Detroit Lions Fans After Social Media Post

For several months, the Detroit Lions have been repeatedly linked to Las Vegas Raiders star defensive end Maxx Crosby. The Michigan native, who played college football at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, has developed into one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers since the Raiders selected him in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Despite the ongoing speculation connecting Crosby to Detroit, it appears he will remain with the Raiders for the time being. Earlier this year, a potential trade that would have sent Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens reportedly fell apart after Baltimore raised concerns regarding the defender’s knee health.

However, Crosby recently drew attention from Detroit sports fans for a different reason — his activity on social media.

Crosby’s Social Media Post Upsets Detroit Fans

As the Detroit Pistons battle the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the National Basketball Association playoffs, emotions have been running high among Detroit supporters.

The Pistons currently trail the series 3–2 after Cleveland secured a 117–113 overtime win in Detroit. During the game discussion online, Crosby appeared to show support for both James Harden and the Cavaliers, which quickly caught the attention of fans.

Many Detroit supporters were surprised that a Michigan native would seemingly root against a hometown team.

One fan questioned Crosby’s loyalty, asking why someone from Michigan would support Cleveland and Harden. Another commenter, a former Lions offensive lineman who also attended Eastern Michigan University, directly asked Crosby whether he was rooting against Detroit.

Other fans reacted with curiosity rather than anger, with one user asking whether Crosby had a personal connection to Harden or was simply a fan of the NBA star.

Still, some reactions were far more critical, with one commenter labeling Crosby a “sellout,” while another criticized Harden’s playing style and questioned why Crosby would support him.

Could Maxx Crosby Still Be Traded?

Even though the potential trade to the Baltimore Ravens fell through, some insiders believe Crosby could still become available later in the season.

According to NFL insider Albert Breer, a trade scenario could emerge if the Raiders struggle early in the year.

Breer suggested that if Crosby continues performing at a high level while the Raiders fall out of playoff contention — for example, starting the season with a 1–8 record — teams around the league could begin calling about the star pass rusher. With the 2027 NFL Draft expected to feature strong talent, a team might offer a compelling package that could tempt Las Vegas to consider a deal.

Crosby Previously Admitted Lions Jealousy

Interestingly, Crosby has previously acknowledged his connection to Detroit football. During an appearance on Good Morning Football, the Michigan native admitted he felt a bit jealous watching the Lions become contenders.

Crosby joked that he spent most of his childhood waiting for the Lions to become successful, only for the team to turn into a Super Bowl contender after he entered the NFL.

That comment only fueled speculation among fans that a future reunion between Crosby and his home-state team could eventually happen.

For now, however, the Raiders star remains in Las Vegas — even as his social media activity continues to spark conversation among Detroit sports fans.
