The Cowboys secured receiver CeeDee Lamb with a four-year, $136 million deal two weeks ago, and quarterback Dak Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million extension on Monday. Prescott’s deal set records, making him the first player to average $60 million per year.

Next in line for the Cowboys: Micah Parsons.

“Damn, you know what I mean? Dak owes me a little cash,” Parsons joked about Prescott’s contract, per Patrik Walker of dallascowboys.com. “I went up to him just before this and said, ‘I’ll never be broke,’ and we both laughed.”

Parsons became extension-eligible after last season but didn’t hold out of training camp, which might have sped up talks, with Parsons significantly underpaid at a $2.989 million salary this year.

However, Parsons wanted to ensure Lamb and Prescott were paid first.

No one was more excited about Prescott’s deal than Parsons.

“He didn’t cheat the game,” Parsons said. “He earned every bit of it. It reflects his work ethic, dedication, and craft. He’s been balling ever since he got here. Good things happen when you put in the work. And I can honestly say he deserves everything he got.”

Parsons isn’t worried about his own extension, believing it will come in time, though the Cowboys tend to do deals later than earlier.

“I just have to keep doing my thing,” Parsons said. “Keep working, striving to be the best player and win championships, and I’ll probably get something on the side.”

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones admitted this offseason that Parsons aims to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. That title currently belongs to Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, who recently signed a four-year, $140 million deal.

Parsons has proven worthy, earning two All-Pro selections and three Pro Bowls in three seasons, recording double-digit sacks each year.

He kicked off 2024 with a sack, nine pressures, and a tipped pass that led to an Eric Kendricks interception.
