LeBron and Bronny James Share Special Moment at Lakers Media Day Ahead of Historic Season

As the Los Angeles Lakers prepare for the upcoming NBA season, a special moment unfolded at their media day as LeBron James and his son, Bronny, addressed reporters together. This marks a historic year for the James family, as LeBron embarks on his 22nd NBA season, and Bronny steps onto the court as a rookie for the first time, a milestone no father-son duo has ever achieved in the league.

 A Joyous Offseason

LeBron, 39, has embraced this offseason with a sense of nostalgia and excitement. “There’s a lot of excitement,” he shared, highlighting the joy of working alongside his son. “It’s pure joy, to be honest, to be able to come to work every day, put in the hard work with your son every day and be able to see him continue to grow. We push each other. He pushes me, I push him. We push our teammates. Just a very joyous moment, not only for myself, but for our family.”

Bronny, 19, was drafted by the Lakers in the second round of the NBA Draft after a brief stint at the University of Southern California. Although he is expected to have limited appearances in his rookie season, the anticipation of playing alongside his father makes this season particularly special.

Historic Firsts on the Court

LeBron is aware that the opportunity to share the court with Bronny will be rare. “If we get a couple of opportunities on the floor throughout the course of the season, obviously that’s going to be amazing,” he remarked. “It will be awesome. We’ll wait for that moment when it happens, and then go from there.”

During their media session, the father-son duo took team photos and engaged with reporters about their unique experience. When asked whether Bronny would refer to LeBron as “dad” during practice, Bronny playfully responded that he would call him “whatever” he wanted, prompting laughter from his father. LeBron expressed pride in Bronny’s development, noting, “He continues to grow and get better and better as a player.”

Teammates Share in the Excitement

Lakers star Anthony Davis also weighed in on the historic significance of the moment. He described it as “surreal” to see “James Jr.” on a jersey hanging in the locker room. “It’s awesome. It’s historic. It’s powerful,” Davis said. “I can’t wait until they step on the floor and officially make history, but it’s been super-dope to watch so far.”

 Looking Ahead to the Season

As the season approaches, LeBron is optimistic about his own performance. After winning a gold medal and being named MVP at the Paris Olympics, he feels ready to compete. “I feel damn good,” he stated confidently. “I feel really good physically. Mentally, I feel really good. Really sharp. Very fresh. Looking forward to getting to work tomorrow,” LeBron continued, emphasizing the importance of living in the moment. “Especially with Bronny being here, too. I don’t want to take this moment for granted.”

With the promise of a historic season ahead, both LeBron and Bronny James are eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities that await them in the NBA.
