Following an error-free performance, Jared Goff wins his sixth Player of the Week award as the Lions’ quarterback.
Jared Goff enters the bye week on a high note, earning NFC Player of the Week honors after setting an NFL record by completing all 18 of his passing attempts in the Lions’ win over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.
Goff went 18-for-18 for 292 yards and two touchdowns, also adding a receiving touchdown, while achieving a 155.8 passer rating in the 42-29 victory. This marks Goff’s sixth NFC Player of the Week award, with three of those coming during his time with the Lions since 2021. He’s now the first Lions quarterback to win the award more than twice, surpassing Scott Mitchell and Rodney Peete.
Goff previously received this honor from the Lions in Week 13 of 2021 and Week 6 of 2023.
After not receiving a game ball immediately following the prime-time win, head coach Dan Campbell confirmed they secured one for Goff on Tuesday morning.
“Yeah, we did, we found one,” Campbell stated. “Normally, I give out an immediate game ball after the game, and we often have one or two more to present the next day. So it was an easy decision to get him this one. It’s a great job.”
Goff made significant throws, including two 20-plus yard completions to Tim Patrick, key connections with Amon-Ra St. Brown, and a perfect pass to Jameson Williams for a 70-yard touchdown.
Goff noted this was the first game in his career where he didn’t record an incompletion. While some teammates and coaches were unaware of the achievement until afterward, Goff realized it midway through the third quarter.
“I knew I had done it in the first half last week, so I was aware of it today. Middle of the third quarter, I thought I hadn’t thrown one,” Goff explained. “Then I threw one out of bounds due to offensive pass interference and wondered if that counted. But it didn’t.
“I focused on making the right play every snap. We weren’t always throwing deep; I was finding open guys and had some checkdowns that turned into big gains. The O-line was fantastic today—they really were. They gave me the time to move around the pocket and find my targets. It was great work by them.”
