Detroit Lions icon Calvin Johnson to appear at Gardner White store in Warren.

Rachel Stewart, the CEO of Gardner White, expressed excitement about Calvin Johnson’s participation, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Calvin back to Gardner White and to collaborate on such a meaningful event to support both the Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

Families are central to what we do, so creating memorable moments for the community is something we fully support.”

This event is specifically designed for families, with a particular focus on children.

Calvin Johnson, recently inducted into the Detroit Lions’ “Pride of the Lions” — a permanent tribute at Ford Field that honors the franchise’s greatest players — will be reading his favorite bedtime story to the children in attendance.

Following the storytime, there will be an exclusive Q&A session where kids will have the chance to interact with Johnson.

The event is a partnership between Gardner White, the American Cancer Society, and Johnson’s nonprofit, the Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation. Johnson’s foundation, established to help young people achieve their educational and career goals, focuses on providing youth with the tools and resources they need for success through realistic and challenging initiatives.

Jenni Beamer, senior executive director for the American Cancer Society in Michigan, also expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration.

She thanked both the Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation and Gardner White for their partnership, noting that the event plays a role in supporting the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society, through the generosity of partners like these, funds groundbreaking research and offers essential patient services, while also leading cancer prevention efforts.

Attendees are encouraged to bring new children’s books, which will be donated to local children facing cancer.

This event also coincides with Gardner White’s recent announcement as the Official Furniture and Mattress Store of the Detroit Lions.
