Stephen Jones believes Cowboys corner DaRon Bland has a strong possibility of playing against the Lions.

The Cowboys’ defense, which has been hit hard by injuries, might see some improvement this week.

All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland, who suffered an injury during the preseason, is reportedly in line to play when Dallas faces the Detroit Lions this Sunday.

Bland was placed on injured reserve in late August due to a stress fracture in his left foot, forcing him to miss at least four games, including last week’s matchup against Pittsburgh.

However, with a bye week following the Lions game, there’s a possibility that Bland could return to action sooner than expected.

“I believe DaRon Bland has a significant chance of playing…

I’m not certain he’ll be in for the entire game, but I think he’s ready to start getting involved,” Stephen Jones mentioned on Tuesday.

“Unless there’s a major setback, DaRon should be prepared to suit up and contribute on defense, especially in the secondary.”

Bland’s return might coincide with that of rookie Caelen Carson, who was also inactive last week but participated in limited practices.

If both players are able to take the field against the Lions, it will mark the first time this season that Dallas has its top four cornerbacks available for a game.

Additionally, it will be the first occasion since Week 2 of 2023 that Bland and Trevon Diggs will play together.

In other roster developments, the Cowboys have made some adjustments with call-ups and new signings to their practice squad in preparation for Week 6.

Williams, a sixth-round draft pick by Denver in 2021, has spent most of the last three years on the practice squads of the Broncos and Jaguars, managing just one career catch so far.

Vilain, an undrafted rookie from 2022, was previously on the Browns’ practice squad and has also played with the Panthers and Vikings.

He made the Vikings’ roster as a rookie but participated in only three game
