NFL Trade Rumors: Cooper Kupp’s Potential Destinations if Rams Become Sellers

The 2024 NFL season has not gone as planned for the Los Angeles Rams, who find themselves facing a string of devastating injuries. At a dismal 1-4, the Rams have done what they can with their depleted roster, but it seems the cards were stacked against them early on. With key offensive players, especially on the line and at wide receiver, missing from the lineup, L.A. was put in a difficult position from the start.

As the November 5 trade deadline approaches, all eyes are on the Rams. If their performance continues to decline, and they drop to 1-5 or 2-6, there is a very real chance the Rams could become sellers. The possibility of a Cooper Kupp trade has even surfaced, which, while hard to swallow for Rams fans, is not entirely out of the realm of possibility. So, if Kupp were to be traded, where might he land? Here are three top destinations for the star wide receiver.

Kansas City Chiefs

It’s almost become a cliché at this point to insert the Kansas City Chiefs into every wide receiver trade discussion, but it makes sense. The Chiefs have struggled with depth at the position this season, particularly with Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown out for the year. The question remains: Is JuJu Smith-Schuster enough to carry the receiving load?

If Patrick Mahomes were to gain a weapon like Cooper Kupp, the entire league would be on notice. Mahomes has already shown his ability to succeed without a true number one wide receiver, but adding Kupp would elevate the Chiefs to another level. With their eyes on a potential three-peat, Kupp could be the final piece of the puzzle for Kansas City.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are another team that could be in the market for a wide receiver before the trade deadline. After missing out on Davante Adams and Amari Cooper, Pittsburgh still has a void to fill in their offense. With George Pickens dealing with his own issues and the team’s uncertainty surrounding Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin, the Steelers could use another weapon in their passing game.

Whether the Steelers are rolling with Justin Fields or Russell Wilson under center, adding Cooper Kupp would give them a reliable target who could make an immediate impact. Kupp’s ability to create separation and rack up yards after the catch could be the perfect complement to the Steelers’ offensive scheme.

Washington Commanders

While the Washington Commanders’ primary concerns lie on the defensive side of the ball, the idea of them making a splash by acquiring Cooper Kupp isn’t far-fetched. The Commanders were previously rumored to be interested in Brandon Aiyuk, and landing Kupp would send a strong message that they are serious about their playoff push.

Currently leading the NFC East and seeing rookie Jayden Daniels blossom, Washington could look to bolster their offense further by adding a star receiver like Kupp. It would be a bold move, but one that could help them solidify their status as contenders in the conference. With the NFL world already surprised by their relevance this season, an aggressive move for Kupp would only add to the Commanders’ growing list of surprises.

As the trade deadline looms, Cooper Kupp’s future with the Rams remains uncertain. If the team continues to struggle, a trade could be on the table, and these teams might just be willing to make the big move for one of the league’s top wideouts.
