The Dallas Cowboys are entering their bye week in search of solutions after a disappointing home loss to the Detroit Lions, where they scored only nine points. The 47-9 defeat at AT&T Stadium marked the Cowboys’ third loss of the season and their third at home. On Tuesday, owner Jerry Jones stated that the 3-3 Cowboys do not plan to make aggressive moves ahead of the trade deadline on Nov.

According to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas News, offensive tackle Tyler Guyton missed the Cowboys’ Week 6 game due to a “health-related” issue. Despite being listed as a full participant in practice all week, he reportedly did not play against Detroit due to being benched for his practice habits.

Bleacher Report suggested that the Cowboys should consider signing veteran offensive lineman Charles Leno Jr. to provide depth at offensive tackle while they address the situation with Guyton.

The report noted, “Meanwhile, Tyler Guyton also suffered an injury in Week 5, and Guyton has struggled early in his career, having been benched this past weekend. Therefore, the front office should explore adding a veteran like Leno, who has a solid pass protection history.” Leno earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2018 while with the Chicago Bears, who drafted him in the seventh round in 2014. The six-foot-three, 302-pound left tackle signed with the Washington Commanders in 2021.

Leno has played in 149 games, starting 141. Pro Football Focus gave the Boise State product a 72.5 overall grade for his performance in 2023. The 33-year-old free agent received a higher grade for pass blocking (77.8) compared to run blocking (62.0). Last season, he allowed three sacks and 34 total pressures in 631 pass-blocking attempts.
