Aidan Hutchinson is injured as the Lions overpower the Cowboys.

Jared Goff threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns, but Detroit lost star defensive player Aidan Hutchinson during a 47-9 rout of Dallas in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday.

Hutchinson suffered a serious left leg injury in the third quarter while sacking Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott and was carted off.

After the game, Lions coach Dan Campbell confirmed it was a tibia injury, and Hutchinson would remain in Dallas while the team returned to Detroit.

David Montgomery ran for 80 yards and two touchdowns as the Lions (4-1) extended their winning streak to three. Prescott passed for 178 yards but was intercepted twice by Brian Branch, as the Cowboys (3-3) fell to 0-3 at home.

Cooper Rush replaced Prescott and completed 8 of 11 passes for 46 yards and an interception. CeeDee Lamb caught seven passes for 89 yards for Dallas.

Detroit jumped to a 27-6 halftime lead. Brandon Aubrey kicked a 34-yard field goal to cap Dallas’ opening drive. The Lions responded with a five-play, 70-yard drive on their first possession, with Goff connecting with Tim Patrick for a 42-yard pass, followed by Montgomery’s 16-yard touchdown run.

The Cowboys advanced 63 yards on their next drive, but Prescott was intercepted by Branch in the end zone. Jake Bates added a 40-yard field goal for Detroit early in the second quarter.

After a Dallas punt, the Lions executed a flea flicker, leaving Sam LaPorta open for a 52-yard touchdown catch from Goff. Bates kicked a 48-yard field goal with 3:57 left in the half. After a failed Dallas fourth-down attempt, the Lions scored on Montgomery’s 1-yard plunge.

KaVontae Turpin’s 79-yard kick return set up Aubrey’s 47-yard field goal before halftime. Detroit quickly extended its lead in the second half as Goff found Jameson Williams for a 37-yard touchdown just 2:25 into the third quarter.

Aubrey responded with a 50-yard field goal midway through the third, but Bates answered with a 33-yarder later in the quarter.

Bates added another 33-yard field goal early in the fourth. Branch’s second interception set up Goff’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown.
