Dallas Cowboys

Ahead of their bye, the Cowboys have fallen in the NFC East, giving rivals an opportunity to widen the gap.

With their Week 6 loss to the Lions, the Cowboys dropped to third in the NFC East, struggling both with injuries and lackluster play. Adding to their frustration, they may have to watch the Commanders and Eagles pick up wins during their bye week.

Despite Cowboys Nation’s discontent, the team’s situation could be worse. Dallas will still be 3-3 after this week, remaining within reach of the division leaders. At worst, they’ll trail Washington by 2.5 games but have two matchups left against both them and the Eagles. Plus, the Cowboys are still undefeated within the division.

It’s been easy to lament and vent frustrations, which might be emotionally helpful. However, even if Washington and Philadelphia extend their lead this week, eleven games remain, giving Dallas plenty of time to rebound.

Current NFC East Standings: Washington Commanders 4-2 (1-0 in division, 2-1 vs NFC) Philadelphia Eagles 3-2 (0-0, 2-2) Dallas Cowboys 3-3 (1-0, 1-2) New York Giants 2-4 (0-2, 1-3) We’re predicting Washington and Philadelphia to win in Week 7 based on their matchups; the Commanders host the Panthers, while the Eagles face the Giants in New York. After a brief improvement with Andy Dalton replacing Bryce Young, Carolina’s back to heavy losses and chasing the first pick in the 2025 Draft. Washington should easily move to 5-2 on Sunday.

Philadelphia has a tougher challenge. The Giants have shown resilience, even pulling off a shocking win in Seattle. Meanwhile, Philly struggled to put the Browns away last week, despite A.J. Brown’s strong return. Nick Sirianni continues to act more like a wrestling villain’s manager.

Bye weeks can be tricky. While they provide time to heal and reassess, teams can also lose momentum. This is especially true for undisciplined teams, and the Eagles appear to be trending that way under Sirianni.

So while the close win over Cleveland may seem concerning, the bye week factor could explain it. The Eagles’ performance against the Giants this Sunday will be a better measure of their strength this season.
