The Lions have lost a practice squad player to the Panthers and have brought back a safety as a replaceme

The Detroit Lions made a roster adjustment on Tuesday after a practice squad player was signed by another team.

The Carolina Panthers added SAM linebacker Cam Gill from the Lions’ practice squad to their 53-man roster.

Gill had joined the Lions’ practice squad after Derrick Barnes was placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury sustained in Week 2.

However, he did not play in any games for Detroit.

To fill the vacancy on their practice squad, the Lions have signed safety Erick Hallett.

The 24-year-old had previously been on the Lions’ practice squad earlier this season following initial roster cuts but was later released to make room for Gill.

Hallett’s addition bolsters Detroit’s secondary, joining players like Morice Norris (also on the practice squad), Brian Branch, Kerby Joseph, Brandon Joseph, and Loren Strickland.

Ifeatu Melifonwu is currently on injured reserve but is eligible to return after the upcoming game against the Tennessee Titans, assuming he’s healthy.

Additionally, the Lions announced the release of wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith from injured reserve.

Smith was placed on IR due to an unspecified injury during training camp and is expected to miss the remainder of the regular season. Once he recovers, he will be able to sign with another team.
