Rico Dowdle is out for Cowboys vs. 49ers due to illness; Dalvin Cook will play.

The wait is almost over as Sunday Night Football approaches, bringing the Cowboys’ anticipated matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.

With a week of rest behind them, the Cowboys’ inactives list has been released.

Rico Dowdle’s name stands out on this list after he unexpectedly fell ill upon arrival at the stadium in San Francisco.

With Dowdle out, Dalvin Cook, who was activated earlier in the week, may need to play a bigger role in tonight’s game than originally planned.

On defense, the Cowboys had hoped the bye week would help heal multiple injured players, but it appears the time off wasn’t quite enough.

DaRon Bland, who nearly played in Week 6 against Detroit, had a setback and will remain on IR for tonight.

Micah Parsons and Caelen Carson are also still at least a week away from game action. Fortunately, Eric Kendricks will be back, giving the defense some much-needed leadership in the middle of the field.

Other Cowboys inactives include Andrew Booth, Deuce Vaughn, Matt Waletzko, and Trey Lance (emergency QB).

The 49ers, too, have been heavily impacted by injuries this season. Both Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk remain on IR.

George Kittle (foot) and Deebo Samuel (illness) appeared on this week’s injury report, but both are active for tonight’s game.

Inactives for the 49ers include Kelvin Givens, Jake Moody, Jauan Jennings, Ben Bartch, and Jalen Grah.
