Sam Williams received news from the NFL’s front office on Monday afternoon, concluding a months-long investigation led by Commissioner Roger Goodell.
This announcement came just a day after the Dallas Cowboys experienced their fourth consecutive loss against the San Francisco 49ers, a game in which Williams did not play as he is currently on injured reserve recovering from a torn ACL.
The NFL announced that Williams has been suspended for three games without pay for violating the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.
This suspension is a consequence of a reckless driving charge and other allegations made against him in 2023 by local authorities.
The suspension will be effective starting Week 8 and will last through the Week 10 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although Williams is on injured reserve, the suspension will impact his pay for three weeks.
Typically, players on injured reserve continue to receive their salaries while they recover, but this suspension means he will not receive pay during that period.
Williams’s injury occurred early in training camp, effectively ending his 2024 season before it could start.
As he enters his fourth year with the Cowboys, there are significant stakes for Williams moving fo
rward.
