Amon-Ra St. Brown Sets the Record Straight on Video Game Controversy

Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown insists he wasn’t the one staying up late on NBA 2K26 the night before Detroit’s Week 4 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Over the weekend, a clip went viral appearing to show St. Brown’s gamer tag logged into NBA 2K26’s MyPlayer park around 4 a.m. on Sunday. Fans quickly assumed the Lions’ top receiver was gaming only hours before kickoff.

“That was one of my friends using my account,” St. Brown clarified after Thursday’s practice, according to ESPN.com.

Still Dominant on the Field

Regardless of who was playing, the supposed late-night gaming session had zero impact on his performance. St. Brown delivered another outstanding showing in Detroit’s 34-10 blowout over the Browns, hauling in all seven of his targets for 70 yards and two touchdowns.

He laughed off the rumors on his podcast this week, reminding listeners that results matter most.

Embracing the Spotlight

St. Brown says he understands that being a high-profile NFL player means living under constant scrutiny. But he’s learned to take it all in stride.

“I like to have fun with it. There’s trolls everywhere — on X, online, you name it. Sometimes I’ll troll back,” St. Brown said. “At the end of the day, I’m still human. I enjoy myself, but I also know when to stay professional… If you win and perform, you’ve earned that right to have fun.”

So was Amon-Ra St. Brown really up gaming at 4 a.m. before facing Cleveland? According to him, absolutely not. But even if he had been, the performance spoke volumes. Detroit’s rising superstar continues to live up to every bit of his reputation — controller or not.
