It’s become quite obvious that the city of Chicago has quickly grown attached to its new head coach, Ben Johnson. Some fans might even be taking that affection a bit too far.
Earlier this week, the local Chicago restaurant, The Wieners Circle, shared a post on social media promising free hot dogs if the Bears win a game this season and Johnson goes shirtless. The playful message even caught the attention of Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, who commented on it during his press conference but wasn’t exactly pushing his coach to follow through.
The media didn’t let the moment pass quietly, putting pressure on Johnson during his latest press conference with the burning questions everyone wanted answered: Had he seen the post, and would he actually take his shirt off? Standing tall with a faint smile, Johnson faced it directly.
“Yeah, that’s been brought up. Kind of unsettling. Why would anyone want to see that? No further comment.”
After a few chuckles from reporters asking if he’d feed the city, the head coach finally gave Bears fans the response they’d been waiting to hear.
Could a shirtless Johnson appear as soon as Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens?
There’s suddenly more at stake than just extending the win streak to five — now free hot dogs hang in the balance. Bears fans, of course, are still far more interested in seeing another win than in seeing Johnson shirtless.
Chicago has rebounded impressively after starting 0-2, winning four straight and climbing into contention in the NFC North. The Bears are closing in on the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in the standings.
Their next test against the Ravens should be tougher than Baltimore’s 1-5 record suggests. With Lamar Jackson possibly returning and Derrick Henry in the backfield, the Bears will have their hands full stopping one of the league’s elite rushing attacks.
It’s a chance for a young squad to show it truly belongs among contenders, and if they can pull off a win while missing five key players, it would mark their most impressive statement victory yet.
