The Dallas Cowboys traveled to Detroit hoping to extend their winning streak and boost their fading playoff hopes. Instead, they left with a painful 44–30 loss that pushed their postseason chances to the brink — and left quarterback Dak Prescott visibly frustrated.
Following the defeat, Prescott delivered an angry but motivating message to his teammates, urging them to turn their emotions into fuel for the final stretch of the season.
Prescott: “I hope it pisses people off the right way”
Speaking to reporters, Prescott didn’t hide his disappointment. He said the locker room was upset — but far from defeated.
“The guys are pissed off right now,” Prescott said, via SI.com. “I don’t think this is any deflated moment like our hands are up, we’re done. No. Absolutely not. I hope you’re gonna get a team that’s pissed. I hope it pisses people off the right way and we use it as fuel.”
The loss dropped Dallas’ playoff probability to 9%, according to The Athletic’s simulator. The Cowboys now face a narrow and difficult path, likely needing to win out and get external help to sneak back into the postseason.
Lions Improve Playoff Odds With Statement Win
For the Detroit Lions, the victory was critical. After their Thanksgiving loss to the Packers dropped their playoff odds to 30%, Thursday’s performance boosted that number to 45%, keeping their division hopes alive at 7%.
Jared Goff Praises Lions’ Grit and Home Crowd
Lions quarterback Jared Goff highlighted the team’s remarkable consistency, noting that Detroit has now gone more than three years without suffering back-to-back losses.
“I don’t think that happens on accident. It’s who we are, it’s what we believe in,” Goff said. “Those losses suck, but we do as good a job as any team of learning from them and coming back the next week.”
Goff also credited Detroit’s fans for creating a strong home-field atmosphere:
“It was great. Our fans showed up. It was awesome.”
Looking ahead, Goff said the Lions hope to continue trending upward as they push toward the postseason.
“We want to be on this upward ramp going into the playoffs where we’re this dangerous team who can go toe to toe with anybody,” he said. “If we win one at a time, who knows what can happen.”
