Cowboys WR George Pickens Fires Back at Richard Sherman After Harsh Criticism for Lack of Effort

Dallas Cowboys wideout George Pickens has been one of the league’s breakout stars in his first season with the team, emerging quickly as a legitimate top-tier receiver.

But during Thursday night’s must-win matchup against the Detroit Lions, Pickens delivered one of his toughest outings of the year. The Cowboys’ 44–30 loss featured just five catches for 37 yards from Pickens, plus a drop that became an interception and two costly penalties — a combination that helped sink Dallas’ chances.

After the game, former All-Pro cornerback and current Amazon Prime analyst Richard Sherman didn’t hold back, calling out Pickens for his effort and attitude throughout the night.

“George Pickens looked like he didn’t want to be out there,” Sherman said. “Disengaged. You can’t vanish in games like this. You can’t claim to be that guy and give a half effort. Completely unacceptable.”

And Pickens — who has never been shy about speaking his mind — had plenty to say in response.

Pickens Unleashes Explicit Response to Sherman on Instagram

I n a since-deleted Instagram rant, Pickens blasted Sherman and dismissed the criticism.

“This is a team sport. I’m not the only one on the field,” Pickens wrote. “Stop acting like an analyst and trying to put everything on one player when it’s an entire team out there. A lot has to go right for explosive plays.”

He then turned his attention directly toward Sherman.

“It’s funny, because you’d think a former player — like p—y a– Richard Sherman — would understand that,” he continued. “And he wasn’t shh without the Legion of Boom. We all remember San Francisco, brother. Much love.”

Pickens didn’t stop there, also taking aim at Sherman’s credibility as a former player turned commentator.

“Don’t speak on me unless you actually know the game. As a former player you should know better — acting like double-teams and bracket coverage don’t exist. Shows me you’re just a leech. A weirdo. Twitter can eat this up. Clouted ah wrld.”

The post went viral before Pickens removed it, but not before thousands had already seen screenshots of the tirade.

A Feud That Might Not Be Over

Given Sherman’s reputation for firing back when challenged, it wouldn’t be surprising if this storyline continues in the coming days. Both men are known for strong personalities and unapologetic opinions — which means Thursday night’s exchange may be just the beginning.
