Detroit Lions Announce Amon-Ra St. Brown News: Star WR to Play in 2026 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Detroit Lions closed out the 2025–26 season on a high note with a hard-fought 19–16 road win over their former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears. As usual, St. Brown played a key role in the victory and remains one of the most important faces of the franchise.
Now, the Lions’ star wide receiver is making headlines for something completely different — and it has nothing to do with football.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Joins NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
The NBA has officially announced that St. Brown will compete in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 7 p.m. ET. The game will air live on ESPN and take place at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
St. Brown will be one of only two NFL players participating. The other is Keenan Allen of the Los Angeles Chargers.
Celebrity Teammates and Coaches
St. Brown’s team features a star-studded lineup, including:
Actor Keegan-Michael Key
Rapper GloRilla
ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania
Former NBA champion Jeremy Lin
Actor and reigning MVP Rome Flynn
The team will be coached by the Antetokounmpo brothers and Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
2026 NBA All-Star Weekend Format
The Celebrity Game will kick off a packed All-Star Weekend, with the main NBA All-Star Game set for Sunday, February 15, at the Clippers’ home arena in Inglewood, California. This marks the 75th edition of the event.
For the first time, the NBA All-Star Game will use a “USA vs. World” round-robin tournament format. Two American teams — Team USA Stars and Team USA Stripes — will compete against Team World.
Each contest will be played in 12-minute games, leading to a championship matchup between the top two teams. Prize money is also on the line:
$125,000 for each player on the championship team
$50,000 for runners-up
$25,000 for third-place finishers
Injury Replacements Announced
Several top NBA stars will miss the event due to injury, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Stephen Curry. Replacements include Alperen Şengün of the Houston Rockets and Brandon Ingram of the Toronto Raptors.
Lions Star Expands His Brand
For St. Brown, the appearance is another step in expanding his profile beyond the NFL. Already one of the Detroit Lions’ most marketable players, he now gets a national spotlight during one of the NBA’s biggest annual events.
Detroit fans will be able to see their star receiver trade shoulder pads for sneakers — and represent the Lions on a much different stage.
