The clash stemmed from a late-game block in the back on Branch, who responded by confronting Smith-Schuster and throwing an open-handed strike, sparking a brief on-field brawl. Smith-Schuster was left with a bloody nose, and both Branch and head coach Dan Campbell issued apologies afterward.

Branch’s absence will be significant, particularly with the Lions entering their bye next week. The second-year safety is expected to make his return in Week 9 when Detroit faces the Minnesota Vikings in a divisional showdown.
