Detroit Lions Forced Into Tough Call Regarding CB Terrion Arnold

The Detroit Lions will be without second-year cornerback Terrion Arnold for an extended stretch, dealing a significant blow to their already inconsistent defense.

A major factor in Detroit’s recent defensive issues has been their inability to generate turnovers, along with several costly mistakes that have surfaced at the worst possible times.

During his weekly media session, defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard was asked whether adjustments were needed in the cornerback rotation to prevent miscommunication and personnel penalties.

Sheppard emphasized that, above all, players must capitalize on the chances they get during games.

“When those opportunities show up and the ball’s on the ground or in the air, we have to come away with it,” Sheppard explained. “We had a chance to make a massive play in the red zone when D.J. Reed made an outstanding effort on that tight-area double-slant concept. He knocked the ball loose. We’ve got to find a way to recover that ball, no matter if it takes a strange bounce.”
