Detroit Lions Injury Report vs. Rams:  All-Pro safety Rule Out, 7 Players Questionable for Week 15

The Detroit Lions injury report for Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams features significant news in the secondary, as All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph has officially been ruled out once again, while seven additional Lions are listed as questionable heading into Week 15.

Joseph will miss his eighth consecutive game after suffering a setback in his recovery. Head coach Dan Campbell acknowledged that Joseph could now be a candidate for injured reserve, further thinning an already depleted safety group. Fellow safety Brian Branch is also ruled out and remains sidelined for the season with a torn Achilles, though he has not yet been placed on injured reserve.

Lions Players Listed as Questionable vs. Rams

The Lions listed the following seven players as questionable for Sunday’s game:

Shane Zylstra (TE) – knee

Sione Vaki (RB) – thumb

Kalif Raymond (WR) – ankle

Christian Mahogany (G) – fibula

Thomas Harper (S) – concussion protocol

Taylor Decker (LT) – shoulder/rest

Kayode Awosika (G) – foot

Offensive Line Concerns

Left tackle Taylor Decker did not practice this week after playing three games in less than two weeks while managing a lingering shoulder injury. His status will be closely monitored leading up to kickoff.

Guard Kayode Awosika, who missed last week’s win over the Dallas Cowboys, practiced in a limited capacity all week. Trystan Colon and Miles Frazier split snaps at left guard in his absence, and Detroit could again rotate options if Awosika is unable to go.

Christian Mahogany returned to practice this week after logging three limited sessions, but he remains a longshot to play in his first game back.

Tight End Depth in Question

Detroit currently has only one tight end on the active roster, Anthony Firkser, making Shane Zylstra’s potential return especially important. Zylstra has practiced for two weeks since coming off injured reserve and could provide a much-needed boost.

Secondary Depth Under Pressure

With both Joseph and Branch out, the Lions are hopeful Thomas Harper can clear concussion protocol. Campbell expressed optimism Friday, noting that Harper practiced and could be available.

Veterans Avonte Maddox, Erick Hallett, and Daniel Thomas have all taken reps at safety as Detroit prepares to slow down the Rams’ explosive offense.

Special Teams Updates

Wide receiver Kalif Raymond has missed two straight games with an ankle injury but could return and reclaim punt-return duties. Running back Sione Vaki continues to play through a thumb injury, though Tom Kennedy and Jacob Saylors have handled kick returns in recent weeks.

The Lions will release final game-day statuses before kickoff as they prepare for a pivotal NFC matchup against the Rams.
