Detroit Lions Receive Surprise Opportunity to Sign Raiders Superstar Maxx Crosby After Ravens Trade Collapse
The Detroit Lions may have unexpectedly received another opportunity to pursue star pass rusher Maxx Crosby after a stunning development halted his rumored blockbuster trade.
Reports surfaced that the Baltimore Ravens backed out of a potential deal for Crosby after the star defensive end reportedly failed his medical physical. The Ravens had been expected to send two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for the elite defender, but the failed physical ultimately stopped the trade from moving forward.
Lions Could Re-Enter the Maxx Crosby Sweepstake
With the Ravens no longer pursuing the deal, attention now turns to Lions general manager Brad Holmes.
Detroit has already been active this offseason, but some fans remain concerned about whether the franchise has made enough moves to push for a Super Bowl run. Landing Crosby would instantly transform the Lions’ defensive front and energize the fan base.
Adding another layer of urgency, rumors continue to circulate that the Chicago Bears are also interested in acquiring Crosby. If a division rival were to land the All-Pro defender, it would be a major blow to Detroit supporters.
Crosby Previously Addressed Raiders Future
Before the trade situation collapsed, Crosby posted a 13-minute video discussing his journey with the Raiders and the uncertainty surrounding his future.
“Ever since I’ve been here, I’ve had one goal and one mission. That’s to become the best version of myself and help bring a championship back to the Raider organization,” Crosby said.
The 28-year-old also emphasized that he always gave everything he had during his time in Las Vegas.
“I feel like I left everything I had on the table for this team. I’ve given my heart and soul.”
Gratitude Toward Raiders Organization
Crosby also reflected on the support he received from the Raiders during difficult moments early in his career. He specifically mentioned owner Mark Davis, who stood by him during personal struggles.
“Davis allowed me to make mistakes and learn from them and grow from them,” Crosby said. “I’ll never forget having to check myself into rehab after my rookie season at my lowest point, and the Raider organization supported me throughout all of that.”
What Comes Next for Crosby?
While Crosby has never publicly requested a trade from the Raiders, speculation about his future has lingered for years due to the team’s limited playoff success.
“I never thought I’d be in this position. I never thought I’d be going anywhere else, truly,” Crosby admitted. “But God works in mysterious ways… I have zero ill will toward that organization.”
With the Ravens out of the picture, the Lions — and possibly the Bears — could now emerge as potential suitors if the Raiders revisit trade discussions.
For Detroit, the situation presents a rare chance to add one of the NFL’s most dominant pass rushers and strengthen a defense that could determine whether the franchise finally breaks through in its Super Bowl pursuit.
