The Detroit Lions will be without two more players on Sunday after announcing key roster downgrades ahead of their Week 15 showdown against the Los Angeles Rams.
Rookie offensive guard Christian Mahogany has officially been ruled OUT after not being activated from Injured Reserve. Mahogany, who has been sidelined with a fibula injury, was considered a potential return candidate this week, but the team ultimately decided to hold him out. His absence delays his 2025 debut by at least one more game.
Detroit also ruled out safety Thomas Harper, who was downgraded to OUT due to a concussion. Harper will not clear concussion protocol in time to face the Rams, further depleting an already thin Lions secondary.
The injuries are especially concerning for Detroit’s defense, which is already without key defensive backs Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch. Facing former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and a surging Rams passing attack, the Lions will once again rely on depth players and young defenders in high-leverage roles.
Sunday’s Lions vs. Rams matchup carries major NFC playoff implications, but Detroit will enter the contest shorthanded as it looks to keep its postseason hopes alive.
