Ex Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford makes heartfelt admission about retirement and gratitude for the game
Los Angeles Rams veteran QB Matthew Stafford opens up about retirement during The Pat McAfee Show, sharing his gratitude and enduring passion for football.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford admitted this week that he’s now much closer to the end of his career than the beginning, while also showing a deeper appreciation for the sport.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, the 37-year-old signal-caller spoke candidly about his mindset toward retirement.
“I think you always try to be that way but it’s definitely a little more obvious right now,” Stafford said. “I mean I’ve got plenty of gray in this beard these days, so I’m not sure how much longer I’ll keep doing it, but I still enjoy it so much. I think with age comes perspective on how much I love this game. Missing time in training camp really hit me hard, not being out there. That tells me I still truly love what I do.”
