Kelly Stafford, wife of Matthew Stafford, has become recognized for her candid and often lighthearted takes on different NFL happenings. In the Week 1 episode of her TIMEOUT show on YouTube, the main subject of conversation was Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during the season’s first game.

Kelly pointed out that it was Carter who injured her husband in a contest which essentially ended the Los Angeles Rams’ campaign the previous year. Reflecting on that moment, she admitted she would have preferred Carter spit on him then, as that would have forced his immediate removal from the field.

“I actually turned to Matthew and said, ‘Why didn’t you get in his face before kickoff?’ That’s the same player who brought Matthew down and closed the Rams’ year. So I thought, ‘Man, I wish he (Jalen Carter) had spit on you.’” Kelly Stafford laughed during the TIMEOUT broadcast while speaking on Carter and his controversial action.

Because of the act, Jalen Carter was tossed out of the contest right away. Though the league has not officially made a ruling yet, Carter is very likely to face suspension for multiple weeks. Still, despite losing him, the Philadelphia Eagles handled business with ease and defeated the Dallas Cowboys in their Week 1 showdown.

At the same time, Matthew Stafford and his Los Angeles Rams were busy focusing on the game itself and had no chance to notice the ugly melee that erupted among supporters in the seats. A viral clip revealed Rams and Texans fans clashing fiercely following a heated dispute over assigned seating in the stadium stands.

The skirmish was initiated by female fans before men soon joined in, escalating the chaos further. One Houston Texans supporter who escalated the scuffle ended up bloodied after being struck in the nose and eventually had to leave the arena. Stadium security arrived quickly to escort everyone engaged in the fracas outside.
