How’d Pittsburgh Steelers Fall in ESPN ‘Power Rankings’?

During current NFL season, “Power Rankings” are all over the place and frequently serve more as filler and diversion than as a source of information.

In light of that, ESPN is releasing its first set of power rankings since the NFL Draft.

A little filler. and a little murdering. and a query.

If the Steelers were ranked as the No. 13 team in the wake of NFL free agency, which seems fair enough …

How did they dip to No. 15 after the NFL Draft?

Does that mean Bristol disapproves of a draft in which the Steelers muscled up in the offensive line?

Apparently not, as the report actually notes that while the team’s “most improved” position is at quarterback, keyed of course by Russell Wilson leading last year’s trio … ESPN found it “tempting to go with the offensive line here” as the “most improved.”

Something doesn’t add up.

If Wilson and the other free agency window roster moves meant Pittsburgh is the 13th best team … and then Pittsburgh uses the draft to reload its offensive line in a way that earns “most improved” praise ..
