Football coach Mark Stoops of the University of Kentucky and his spouse Chantel are separating.
University of Kentucky football coach Mark Stoops and his wife Chantel are getting divorced. The couple released a statement through the UK Athletics department Monday afternoon.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce after careful consideration, but it is very difficult to make an announcement about something that is so personal for our family,” the statement said. “We believe it is necessary to officially acknowledge our reputation in the community, since we are aware of it. As our family grows, we will always have a great deal of respect and care for one another. We ask that you respect our family’s privacy at this time.
Will and Zack are Mark and Chantel’s two kids from their 2002 marriage. Since moving to Lexington in 2013, The Stoops have been involved with a number of charitable organizations, such as the Kentucky Children’s Hospital, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and The Team Kentucky Fund. Recently, the pair invested in Manchester Street’s Wm. Tarr Distillery.
In 2013, the Stoops bought a $1.45 million house in the Beaumont section of Lexington.
