Dallas Cowboys Are Interested in UFL Star and Former First Round Pick

According to reports, the Dallas Cowboys are considering a previous first-round choice who turned out to be a huge disaster at cornerback. After a very good season in the UFL with the D.C. Defenders, Deandre Baker is being brought in by the Cowboys for a workout, according to ML Football.

Baker was a previous first-round pick who faded rapidly despite his high hype. He’ll have another opportunity now.

Dallas Cowboys Have Real Interest In Former Bust Deandre Baker

Although Baker is scheduled to try out for the team that lost some of its depth at cornerback this past season, he was once considered a highly regarded draft prospect when he began his NFL career.

The New York Giants selected Baker with the 30th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Baker had an extraordinary talent in college, earning an All-American status during his time at Georgia. But after being accused of armed robbery in 2020, the Giants cut him loose after just one season of play.

Baker’s troubles during his early career began with the arrest. Even though the accusations were eventually dismissed, the damage had already been done, and the team that had picked him had already cut him.

Baker did be selected by the Chiefs, which presented him with a fantastic chance since the team went on to win two Super Bowls and participate in three more since Baker was selected.

But his troubles didn’t end there. He was cut by the Chiefs after just 10 games due to a season-ending leg injury. Despite being only 26 years old, Baker has already had a lot of experience in his brief football career.

The young corner might provide the Cowboys secondary the much-needed depth, and despite playing in the UFL, Baker demonstrated that he still possesses a lot of his skills. The former Georgia Bulldog is attempting to continue making the most of his second opportunity after being named to the All-UFL team last season.

If Baker were to return to the NFL, it would make for an incredible comeback tale, and it appears the Cowboys are seriously considering signing the UFL standout. We’ll see if Baker can reach his full potential in the event that the Cowboys give him another opportunity.
