American baseball pitcher Corbin Burnes Announces Resignation From Baltimore orioles’ Contract Worth $126million….

Orioles: Brewers trading Corbin Burnes to Baltimore in blockbuster deal

The Orioles made a serious move to upgrade their pitching following an unwanted end to the 2023 postseason.

The Baltimore Orioles have engaged the Milwaukee Brewers in a blockbuster MLB trade less than two weeks before the start of spring training. The Orioles are sending shortstop Joey Ortiz and left-hander D.L. Hall to Milwaukee in exchange for Corbin Burnes, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports.

The Orioles get a massive upgrade ahead of spring training

In addition to Joey Ortiz and D.L. Hall, Milwaukee will reportedly receive a 2024 Competitive Balance Round A draft pick from the Orioles, per Mark Feinsand. Baltimore’s move for Corbin Burnes bolsters their chances for an improved 2024 postseason showing.

The Orioles finished the 2023 season with an impressive record of 101-61. Thus, the club made the MLB Playoffs as the AL’s No. 1 seed. Unfortunately, the eventual World Series-winning Texas Rangers swept Baltimore in the ALDS.

Now, the team is making a decisive push to improve its pitching attack with the arrival of Burnes.

The 29-year-old right-hander was one of the most productive MLB pitchers in 2023. He earned a WHIP of 1.07, which ranked him fifth in the league. Moreover, he threw 200 strikeouts to go with a 3.39 ERA and a W-L of 10-8. His presence takes a well-built Orioles team to a higher level.

Burnes spent his first six major league seasons with the Brewers. His services will be missed, but his former team is getting quality players and draft compensation in return. It will be interesting to see how Milwaukee fairs amid its roster and coaching changes.

All in all, Orioles fans must be beaming with excitement after their club’s pivotal MLB trade. Corbin Burnes looks to push Baltimore over the hump ahead of the 2024 season.
