Pramac has opted to move to Yamaha, according to the Italian press.

One of the major doubts in the MotoGP lineup for 2025 could be settled soon. Prima Pramac Racing has apparently opted to join with Yamaha. This information comes from Sky Sport Italia, a top-tier television network.

It appears that the concept and conditions offered by the Iwata-based manufacturer persuaded Paolo Campinoti’s team to abandon Ducati after two decades of collaboration.

The decision is reported to have already been taken, with only an official statement awaited. Pramac’s future will have a huge impact on the rider market, as there will be two fewer Ducatis and two more Yamahas on the grid.

Given the numerous issues he encountered with the YZR-M1 between 2021 and 2023, Franco Morbidelli, the current Pramac rider, may need to look for a new team even if he earns the trust of his current squad.

Fermín Aldeguer will have only four seats to aim for (Gresini or VR46), with the possibility of Morbidelli joining VR46. Furthermore, it is unclear which team Ducati will supply with the next version of the bike – Gresini or VR46, or potentially both, given that only Pramac now receives the Desmosedici GP24.

If confirmed, Yamaha would reestablish a satellite team after two seasons with only two factory bikes. Álex Rins will likely continue to be Fabio Quartararo’s colleague. With two more YZR-M1 motorcycles on the grid, the development of one of the existing less competitive bikes might be accelerated significantly, aided by the enormous concessions in place.
