Stephen Jones of the Cowboys reveals there are no current discussions about a contract extension for Micah Parsons.

Stephen Jones, the Executive Vice President of the Dallas Cowboys, previously suggested that contract negotiations between the team and Dak Prescott were progressing before Prescott signed a record-setting deal. Now, Jones is addressing the future of linebacker Micah Parsons.

Jones noted that, unlike Prescott’s contract talks, Parsons’ extension is not currently a priority. In an interview with 105.3 The Fan, Jones indicated that a deal for Parsons is not imminent.

“At the moment, it’s not something on the table,” Jones explained. He mentioned that Parsons is focusing on improving his performance this season, having started strongly in their recent game against the Cleveland Browns, and believes his on-field performance will speak for itself.

Jones is optimistic about Parsons’ potential under new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, suggesting that Parsons could be heading for his best season yet. He noted that Parsons is expected to have a stellar year and might be open to contract discussions later.

Jones explained that each player’s situation is different, and negotiations often depend on timing and readiness.

In the Cowboys’ 33-17 victory over the Browns, Parsons recorded four tackles and one sack. Now in his fourth NFL season, Parsons is a three-time Pro Bowler.

Additionally, Cowboys owner, president, and general manager Jerry Jones praised Parsons in a recent interview with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.

Jones described Parsons, selected 12th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, as possibly the best athlete he’s encountered in his career.

Jones expressed immense pride in Parsons, highlighting his unique and versatile talent. The Cowboys will face the New Orleans Saints next Sunday.
