Injury Report for Detroit Lions: Sewell and Davenport Miss Practice; Williams Participates Limitedly

Several Detroit Lions starters are listed on Wednesday’s injury report as they prepare for their Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, September 15.

On Wednesday, offensive tackle Penei Sewell, safeties Kerby Joseph and Ifeatu Melifonwu, and defensive end Marcus Davenport did not practice. Breakout wide receiver Jameson Williams was limited due to an ankle injury.

Sewell, who has an ankle issue, missed practice as a precaution but is expected to play on Sunday.

Davenport, dealing with a groin injury, is anticipated to return to practice later this week.

Joseph’s status is more uncertain due to a hamstring injury; although he participated in warm-ups, he was listed as a nonparticipant afterward.

The full injury report for the Lions includes Penei Sewell (ankle), Marcus Davenport (groin), Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle), and Kerby Joseph (hamstring) as nonparticipants, with Jameson Williams limited. Carlton Davis (chest), DJ Reader (quad), and Loren Strickland (thumb) were full participants.

Reader and Strickland, who were inactive in Week 1, are set to make their season debuts in Week 2.

Williams, who played through his injury against the Rams, is expected to participate in the Week 2 game but will follow a cautious approach in practice. His injury remains a point of concern, and his status may change based on his progress.

In Week 1, Williams had a standout performance with five catches for 121 yards and a touchdown, leading the Lions in receiving yards and scoring a notable 52-yard touchdown.
