The Detroit Lions kicked off their 2024 NFL season with a 26-20 overtime win at home against the Los Angeles Rams, marking a repeat of their previous year’s Divisional Round clash.
Now, the Lions are preparing for their Week 2 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, whom they also bested in last year’s playoffs. Ahead of this matchup, Detroit has made several roster changes.
The Lions have announced the signing of defensive lineman Kyle Peko to their active roster.
Peko, a 31-year-old veteran, recorded one tackle in the win over the Rams. Last season, he appeared in a career-high 13 games with the Tennessee Titans and accumulated 22 tackles as a rotational player.
Additionally, kicker Greg Joseph and defensive lineman Chris Smith have been added to the practice squad.
Joseph, who has been with the Minnesota Vikings for the past three seasons, participated in all 17 games each year. Despite a strong overall career field goal percentage of 82.6%,
he struggled with longer kicks last season, converting only seven of 13 attempts from 40 yards or more
.Smith, an undrafted free agent from Notre Dame last season, had one tackle in the opener before being waived earlier in the week.
