Detroit coach Dan Campbell anticipates that both the Buccaneers and Rams will be contenders for division titles, potentially leading to crucial tiebreaker scenarios for playoff positions later in the year.
Campbell emphasized the importance of early wins, stating, “You get an early one and you just don’t know what this is going to mean down the road. If you can put some money in the bank early in the season, it will pay big dividends.
“Historically, the 2007 New England Patriots, the 1984 San Francisco 49ers, and the 1966 Green Bay Packers all won NFL titles after beginning their seasons with two games against playoff teams from the previous year.
The Lions hope to follow in their footsteps.In their previous encounters, Detroit defeated Tampa Bay 31-23 in the divisional round at home last January, and they secured a 20-6 victory on the road in October.
Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield reflected on these games, expressing frustration over missed opportunities but optimism about his team’s potential.
