The Detroit Lions aim to build on their successful season from the previous year, where they reached the NFC Championships for the first time since 1991.
They started the new season positively with a 26-20 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Rams on September 8.
Under Dan Campbell’s coaching, the team received a significant boost from its defense, featuring key players like Aidan Hutchinson, Marcus Davenport, and Levi Onwuzurike. Nonetheless, the Lions would benefit from additional strength, particularly with a Pro Bowl linebacker.
The 33rd Team reports that the Lions are one of the potential destinations for Haason Reddick, who is currently in contract disputes with the New York Jets.
Besides the Lions, the Chicago Bears, Tennessee Titans, and Indianapolis Colts are also potential trade partners for the 29-year-old Reddick.
The Jets acquired Reddick, formerly an All-Pro Second Team member, in a March 2024 trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
However, he has yet to participate in any team activities, including their Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Reddick has requested a trade, which the Jets have denied.ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports that Reddick has already accumulated over $5 million in fines and lost wages.
Cimini doubts Reddick will play for the Jets, noting that it is “hard to envision” due to his lack of attachment to the team.
Cimini adds that Reddick has only been to the facility once, on April 1 for his introductory press conference, where he appeared enthusiastic.
