Lions Promote WRs Tim Patrick and Tom Kennedy to Active Roster for Week 2 Battle with Buccaneers
Ahead of their Week 2 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Detroit Lions have promoted wide receivers Tim Patrick and Tom Kennedy from the practice squad to the active roster. This move addresses depth concerns as the Lions deal with injuries at the position.
WR Jameson Williams, limited by an ankle injury during practice all week, is now listed as questionable. Rookie WR Isiah Williams has been ruled out for the game.
Kennedy was already active in the Lions’ Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams, while Patrick will make his season debut after joining the active roster.
Patrick, who had a productive 2021 season with the Denver Broncos, caught 53 passes for 734 yards and five touchdowns before back-to-back season-ending injuries to his ACL and Achilles.
The Lions will face the Buccaneers on Sunday in a rematch of last season’s playoff game.
Detroit comes into this game after a 26-20 overtime victory over the Rams, while Tampa Bay is coming off a commanding 37-20 win against the Washington Commanders.
The Buccaneers will be without three key players: defensive tackle Calijah Kancey, safety Antoine Winfield Jr., and right tackle Luke Goedeke. Additionally, starting cornerback Zyon McCollum is listed as questionable after clearing concussion protocol from a hit he took last week.
Both teams are dealing with significant injuries ahead of what promises to be a hard-fought contest.
