Detroit Lions tailgate ends in tragedy as second person dies from shooting.

A second person has died after being sho during a confrontation at Detroit’s Eastern Market. Detroit police reported that the shooting took place around 4:30 p.m. near Wilkins and Riopelle Streets, shortly after the Detroit Lions’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Eastern Market, located just northeast of downtown, is a popular location for Lions fans to tailgate during game days.

The police arrested an Oak Park man in his 30s in connection with the shooting, according to Detroit Police Chief James White.

A Detroit man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second victim, a man in his 20s from Detroit, was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Chief White explained that the violence stemmed from a large fight in Shed 6 of the market.

Although the fight initially dispersed, it escalated again when the suspect and one of the victims squared off, appearing ready to brawl. The Oak Park man is accused of drawing a gun and firing at least two shots, resulting in the tragic outcome.

Chief White emphasized the dangerous combination of tailgating, alcohol, and firearms, saying, “It’s a beautiful day, and it shouldn’t have led to this.”

As of Monday, police indicated that new information has come to light and will be thoroughly examined as part of the investigation. Further updates on the case are expected as authorities continue to review the details surrounding the incident.
