Security Scare: Dan Campbell Lists $4.5M Home After Unruly Fans Discover Address

The Detroit Lions undeniably have one of the most passionate fan bases in the NFL, but they may have crossed the line this time.

After the team’s 20-16 home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Ford Field on Sunday, Campbell had to put his home up for sale due to security concerns, as several unruly Lions fans discovered his address and began visiting his house, according to a report from Nick Manes of Crain’s Detroit.

“I loved the neighborhood, everything,” Campbell told Manes about the property. “There’s lots of space, it’s on two acres, and the home is beautiful. It’s just that people figured out where we lived when we lost.”

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom house, located in Oakland County and already pending with a list price of $4.5 million, hit the market earlier this week. It was originally built by former Red Wings star and Hockey Hall of Famer Igor Larionov in 2013; Campbell bought it in 2021 for $3.5 million.

While Campbell is well-liked in Detroit, he faced some criticism after Sunday’s loss to the Bucs – a game in which the Lions out-gained the Bucs 463 yards to 216, dominated first downs (26 to 14), and led time of possession (33:53 to 26:07).

Campbell took the defeat personally, accepting full responsibility for the team’s loss.

“I asked for improvement from last week…and we did improve, but the coach cost them,” Campbell told reporters. “Their head coach cost them. It was a critical error at the end of the half, 100% on me.

“There was no way to justify this. It’s a huge mistake on my part and no one else’s. It was just between a hurry-up field goal and clocking it, and it was 100% my fault.”
