McCarthy unconcerned about CeeDee Lamb and Trevon Diggs’ injuries

Head coach Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys are preparing for an early season home challenge on Sunday against reigning league MVP Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.  Both teams are coming off rough losses in Week 2, and McCarthy hopes his squad can rebound from their poor showing against the New Orleans Saints.

Adding to the Cowboys’ concerns is the fact that two key players are currently listed as questionable. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, recently one of the league’s highest-paid at his position, is dealing with an ankle injury, while cornerback Trevon Diggs, who missed most of last season with a torn ACL, is nursing a foot issue.

However, according to the latest from NFL insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network on X, McCarthy isn’t too worried about either player’s status.

“Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy described the injuries to WR CeeDee Lamb and CB Trevon Diggs as ‘not of high concern.’ Both will be limited today,” Rapoport reported.

Additionally, tight end Jake Ferguson practiced on Thursday despite a knee injury, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith, who has a back issue, was absent from the media portion of practice, per Jon Machota of The Athletic on X.

The Ravens find themselves in a rare “must win” situation in Week 3 after losing their first two games, with more tough matchups ahead after facing the Cowboys.

The usually strong Baltimore defense has looked vulnerable this season, which could benefit a Cowboys team that struggled on Sunday.

While quarterback Dak Prescott had a decent first half, Dallas’ defense was torched by the Saints on every drive. Whether that was an outlier or a sign of things to come remains to be seen.

The Cowboys, who had not lost a regular season home game in over two years until Sunday, will be looking to avoid back-to-back defeats, with the New York Giants next on the schedule.

America’s Game of the Week between the Ravens and Cowboys kicks off at 4:25 PM ET from AT&T Stadium in Arlington and will be broadcast nationally by FOX.
