Why CeeDee Lamb needs to be held accountable when he falls short of higher expectations.
After the 49ers game, CeeDee Lamb was unavailable to express his frustrations, despite having previously taken accountability and challenged his teammates.
When media entered the locker room, he was not present.
Dak Prescott emphasized the importance of moving forward rather than dwelling on losses.
He mentioned, “If you’re sitting in that, dwelling on that, your mind’s not in the right place to move forward.
It’s about always talking, not only to him but to the other guys too.
We can’t dwell. Looking at how that game ended, if we didn’t linger in different areas on offense, it could have been a different game.
”Indeed, the game could have unfolded differently. While Lamb’s emotional display during the game shouldn’t be criticized, he does need to be held accountable.
The 2023 season has shown that the offense thrives when Lamb performs well. With a substantial four-year, $136 million contract extension now linked to him, expectations are significantly heightened.
His absence to discuss not meeting those expectations contrasts sharply with his behavior last season when he took responsibility following the San Francisco game.Prescott noted, “As players, we need to be more professional and understand our roles.
We have to know where we’re supposed to be and execute consistently while maintaining focus.”
If Lamb absorbs this message, he’ll have a chance to redeem himself soon, as the Cowboys face the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in just four days.
However, if the message doesn’t resonate, the existing offensive issues will likely escalate, posing greater challenges even before the season fully unfolds.
