Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes they have a player with unique potential on their roster.
During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan, he discussed rookie wide receiver Ryan Flournoy and his capabilities.
Drafted in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Flournoy has yet to make his NFL debut.
With star receiver Brandin Cooks sidelined due to a knee infection, other wide receivers have the chance to step up during the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jones hinted that Flournoy is likely to play and praised him by drawing a comparison to the legendary Dez Bryant.
“I’m eager to see him make his first catch with the Dallas Cowboys, but I think he could be something special for us,” Jones remarked about Flournoy, as reported by Todd Archer of ESPN.
“On a personal level, he’s got that Dez Bryant quality. He is an incredible athlete, and I’m glad he has this opportunity.”
Dez Bryant, a three-time Pro Bowler and the NFL’s receiving touchdowns leader in 2014, is a significant benchmark for any player.
Therefore, Jones’ comparison of Flournoy to Bryant carries considerable weight.
While this endorsement may put additional pressure on the rookie, Flournoy exudes confidence.
Recently, the 24-year-old expressed his enthusiasm for making his debut, emphasizing that he’s ready to showcase his talents.
“I am excited to show y’all,” Flournoy stated on the team’s website.
“It’s in here… taps heart. It’s in here. Y’all will see.”
A s Week 5 approaches, all eyes will be on Flournoy, and there are high hopes that he can meet the expectations set by Jones and the Cowboys organization.
The stage is set for Flournoy to prove himself, and fans are eager to see if he can live up to the lofty praise he has received. With an opportunity to shine, the rookie aims to make a significant impact in his first game.
