49ers Release Inactive List: Key Stars Warner and Kittle Active for NFC West Clash

The San Francisco 49ers enter Week 5 of the NFL season with crucial players Fred Warner and George Kittle both listed as active for their matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. This development comes as a relief to the 49ers, who have faced various injury challenges throughout the early part of the 2024 season.

Injury Concerns and Player Availability

In the lead-up to the game, the 49ers had their fair share of concerns regarding injuries. Linebacker Fred Warner (ankle) and tight end George Kittle (ribs) were both classified as questionable, following injuries sustained during the Week 4 victory against the New England Patriots. Warner left the game early and did not return, while Kittle was able to re-enter after being sidelined for a brief period.

The uncertainty surrounding both players added to the tension leading into the clash against the Cardinals, particularly given the team’s recent struggles with injuries. The 49ers previously placed depth edge rusher Yetur Gross-Matos on injured reserve due to a knee issue, further depleting their roster.

However, both All-Pro players participated in practice late in the week, easing fears that they would be inactive for the pivotal NFC West showdown. Reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicated that they would be ready to play, which was confirmed when the 49ers released their Week 5 inactive list.

The Inactive Roster

While Warner and Kittle will take the field against the Cardinals, several players have been designated as inactive for the game. This list includes:

  • QB Josh Dobbs
  • OL Ben Bartch
  • WR Jacob Cowing
  • WR Chris Conley
  • LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles
  • CB Darrell Luter Jr.

The absence of Conley and Flannigan-Fowles raises concerns, particularly at linebacker, where Warner’s potential to aggravate his injury could impact the team’s defensive strategy.

The 49ers are scheduled to kick off against the Cardinals on October 6 at 4:05 p.m. ET from Levi’s Stadium, and the return of Warner and Kittle is expected to significantly bolster their chances of improving to a stronger record this season.

As the team navigates through injury challenges, the focus remains on unity and performance as they prepare to face their divisional rivals.
