Detroit Lions

The idea of Jared Goff achieving an NFL record is the least of the Lions coach’s concerns.

The Detroit Lions experienced an offensive surge in their 42-29 Week 4 win over the Seattle Seahawks, highlighted by quarterback Jared Goff’s standout performance, during which he had no incompletions.

Goff completed 18 of 18 passes for 292 yards, throwing two touchdowns and catching another. His passes were not limited to short throws, adding to the impressiveness of his performance.

After a bye in Week 5, Goff has the opportunity to make NFL history in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys by extending his consecutive completions streak.

If he connects on his first seven passes on Sunday, he will set the record for the most consecutive completions with 26. This streak began in Week 3 when he completed his last pass of that game.

However, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson dismissed the notion of focusing on the streak: “Not even on my thought process. We’re playing ball,” Johnson stated.

Goff’s Week 4 performance already broke several records. His 18 completions mark the highest number in a game without any incompletions, and he achieved the most passing yards in a game without an incompletion.

Although Goff started the season slowly, he has rebounded strongly in the last two weeks, completing 87.8% of his passes for 491 yards and five touchdowns against just one interception.

Overall, Goff has completed 71% of his attempts for 1,015 yards, with six total touchdowns and four interceptions. His completion percentage ranks fourth in the NFL.

The Lions are on a two-game winning streak and aim to extend it to three against the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, who are also looking for a win.
