Cowboys Player in Hot Water After Questionable Moment Against Detroit Lions

The Dallas Cowboys could have shown more effort on Sunday, suffering a humiliating 47-9 defeat to the Detroit Lions at AT&T Stadium in Week 6.

The Lions controlled the game, outgaining the Cowboys 492-251 in total yards. Dallas struggled in the trenches, allowing 184 rushing yards while only managing 53 on the ground.

One player facing significant criticism on social media is cornerback Trevon Diggs for a questionable play against the Lions. Cameras captured him seemingly avoiding a tackle attempt on running back David Montgomery.

The six-foot-two, 195-pound cornerback appeared reluctant to confront the five-foot-11, 224-pound running back. (Diggs was noted on the Week 6 injury report for an ankle issue but had no game designation.)

Fans took to social media to express their frustration with Diggs’s nonchalant approach to tackling during the lopsided loss.

“He’s been a top player since entering the league,” one fan remarked. “This is one of those ‘business decisions’ Antonio Pierce mentioned with the Raiders. Tuna and Jimmy wouldn’t tolerate this. Js.”

“I remember when he was criticized for yardage but still picked off passes, ‘best corner in the league,'” another fan noted. “He hasn’t covered anyone since joining the league, and if he has the mindset of a star, he lacks the toughness to tackle as a corner.”

“Soft, but he sells jerseys,” added another user.

“And he even stopped pursuing after missing the tackle, even as the runner continued,” pointed out a fan.

“That was a business decision,” another fan remarked.

“There are a few plays that show he’s willing to engage, but many more like this that suggest otherwise,” wrote a disappointed fan.

Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowl cornerback, has recorded 23 tackles, three passes defensed, and one interception this season.
