Dallas Cowboys Player Faces Criticism Following Controversial Incident Against Lions

The Dallas Cowboys could have shown more effort on Sunday, suffering a disheartening 47-9 defeat to the Detroit Lions at AT&T Stadium in Week 6.

The Lions controlled the game, outgaining the Cowboys in total yards 492 to 251. Dallas struggled in the trenches, allowing 184 rushing yards while managing only 53 on the ground.

One player, cornerback Trevon Diggs, is facing criticism on social media for his performance against the Lions. Cameras captured him appearing to step out of position instead of tackling running back David Montgomery.

At six feet two inches and 195 pounds, Diggs seemed reluctant to confront the more physical Montgomery, who is five feet eleven inches and weighs 224 pounds.

Although Diggs was listed on the injury report for an ankle issue, he had no restrictions for Sunday’s game.

Fans expressed their frustration online regarding Diggs’ decision not to be aggressive during the blowout. One commenter noted, “He has been that dude since he got in the league.

This is one of those business decisions Antonio Pierce mentioned with the Raiders. Tuna and Jimmy wouldn’t tolerate this.”

Another fan recalled how Diggs previously received praise despite giving up yardage, stating, “Dude hasn’t covered anyone since he came into the league, and if he has the mindset of Stefon, he lacks the heart to tackle as a corner.”

Additionally, another fan pointed out that Diggs stopped pursuing Montgomery after missing the tackle, despite the runner continuing down the field.

Frustrated fans commented on the mixed messages in Diggs’ career, saying, “There are a few plays that show he’s willing to engage, but many more that suggest otherwise.”

Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, has recorded 23 tackles, three passes defensed, and one interception this season.
