Following the injury of star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who suffered a broken tibia, the Detroit Lions have signed a defensive end from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad.
The Lions added Isiah Thomas on Tuesday to help fill the gap left by Hutchinson, whose impact on the field will be challenging to replicate, as he was a strong candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year.
Thomas has yet to see game action this season after joining the Bengals, having previously spent two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns drafted him in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Although he played some games for Cleveland in 2022, he has been on the practice squad for the entirety of the 2023 season.
His only career sack came during his time with the Browns when he took down Joe Burrow in a game that Bengals fans refer to as “The Halloween Massacre.”
Currently, the Bengals have not made any announcements in response to Thomas’s departure from their practice squad.
