Peter Gabriel

Undeath Pays Homage to Peter Gabriel with Claymation Visuals for Latest Single “Disputatious Malignancy.”

That headline might not resonate with younger audiences, but I’m referring to the animation style in Undeath’s new single “Disputatious Malignancy.” It evokes memories of the classic “Sledgehammer” video, but with a much heavier track driving the visuals.

Featured on their upcoming album More Insane, this track delivers intense heaviness, showcasing an undeniable groove at times. Then, around the one minute and thirty-five second mark, it takes a brutal turn.

Vocalist Alexander Jones mentioned that “Disputatious Malignancy” draws from one of death metal’s most influential bands and a beloved From Software game. “This was one of the last songs added to the album. I heard Kyle’s rough demo while we were at Mark’s studio for pre-production, and I knew it had to be included. Thematically, it channels a vibe reminiscent of Pierced From Within-era Suffocation mixed with Bloodborne lore. Lyrically, it’s our closest take on a ‘fuck god/religion’ theme, which is new for us. It’s fast, bouncy, and features an awesome dueling solo section that I adore.”

More Insane drops on October 4 via Prosthetic Records, and preorders are available now. Undeath will embark on a tour across the U.S. and parts of Canada later this month, accompanied by Kruelty, Gates to Hell, Tribal Gaze, and Torture. Tour dates are listed below.
