Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph explained how straightforward it was to prepare for the Dallas Cowboys offense during their dominating 47-9 victory.
The Cowboys suffered another disappointing performance in Week 6, struggling at home against the Lions.
Dak Prescott failed to throw any touchdowns and tossed two interceptions, while the team’s leading rusher, Rico Dowdle, managed just 25 yards.
In a discussion on the St. Brown Podcast, co-hosted by Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, Joseph elaborated on the defensive strategy that led to the Cowboys’ embarrassment.
He emphasized that the key to their success was limiting CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys’ primary playmaker.
“The game plan was really just to take (CeeDee Lamb) away,” Joseph stated. “Once we took him out of the game, we weren’t really worried about anyone else.”
This assessment reflects poorly on the Cowboys’ offense, reinforcing concerns that have been apparent for some time.
The team has not effectively addressed its rushing attack during the offseason, which now ranks as the worst in the NFL. Lacking a legitimate ground threat, their offense has become predictable.
This performance should serve as a wake-up call for owner Jerry Jones and the front office during the bye week.
If the Cowboys are genuinely committed to turning their season around and being “all-in,” they need to consider making moves to enhance their offensive capabilities.
Without significant changes, the team risks continuing down a troubling path.
